Humans are dynamic creatures. In a society that values productivity, we tend to be in almost-perpetual motion. We determine our value by how much we are able to do in a set amount of time. Productivity is praised; stillness is equated with laziness and weakness. Egrets symbolize balance, calmness, strength, and being at peace with oneself and the world. They stand seemingly unmoving for hours on end, intently watching the world around them. Egrets serve as a reminder that there is strength in balance, calmness in patience, and peace in stillness.
