A Prayer for Ukraine

Like much of the world, I have been watching the events in Ukraine unfold with a deepening sense of outrage and desperate hope. This painting is my prayer for Ukraine. The stork is the national bird of Ukraine. Storks represent family, patriotism, loyalty, and luck. In Ukraine, storks are seen as harbingers of spring, as their yearly migrations generally bring them to Ukraine at the end of winter. In much of the world, storks represent birth and renewal.

My prayer for Ukraine is that the end of this terrible winter comes swiftly and brings with it lasting peace, unity, and renewal of both home and spirit.

All proceeds from the sale of the original and prints of “A Prayer for Ukraine” will be donated to the Children’s Emergency Fund under the Save the Children organization, and will help provide food, water, hygienic supplies, and psychological support for children and families at risk in Ukraine.
